For context, when I go clean my grooves after I hit, I only clean everywhere outside these grooves.

They’re like tread on a tire. When all the other grooves get low you compare to the shiny unused ones in the middle; and when there is more than 50% difference it’s time to go buy some shiny new blades. Hope this helps

I hear they the do something or other with a straight shot or… I forget I was bored when my pro told me once.

I like how like 90% of people on this sub have no idea where the sweet spot actually is. It’s so apt

Its cheaper to just cut the whole thing, but you dont actually need them

Once in a while you get lucky and your wife’s boyfriend uses these clubs in which case it’ll strike the middle every time

  6. For when you hit fat shots off mats and make you think you just hit a good shot, but without much spin.

What’s the white spot do? I’ve never used that area

That’s where you hit it when you want to feel like you should’ve hit it better but it will be okay and then it rolls off the green because the compression was actually shit

Grooves are only for the rough. Just hit it into the fairway and you don’t need any of them.

what’s the main topic being discussed here

Grooves are to give grass and debris somewhere to go so that contact/ spin isn’t affected by anything getting in between the ball and club surface.

I avoid the grooves and use the chunky edge at the bottom
