How much does golf ball compression really vary between brands? In this video I put over 20 different golf balls through a compression test to see which ones are actually soft, which ones are firm, and which ones totally surprise us.
We’re testing balls from brands like Snyder, Snell, NexGen, Bridgestone, Srixon, Tour Edge, Volvik, Maxfli, Trust, Vice and more to see how they stack up. Some of the results were pretty shocking, and a few balls measured way different than what you might expect.
If you’ve ever wondered which golf balls are truly low compression, mid compression, or high compression, this test gives you a real look at the numbers across a huge variety of models.
Expect big surprises, unexpected winners, and a few brands that didn’t measure where we thought they would.

most people who watch your videos are scientists at heart. we love metrics. we want to optimize. so this type of objective data is huge for us like that objectivity and not subjectivity.
I’ve been waiting on this 🎉.
Thank you for these tests
Awesome!
I haven't watched the whole video yet but I'd love to see tests between the different colored Vice balls. I could swear the Vice Pro+ Lime green performs better for me than the white version. I also like the Vice Pro+ shade ball. I seemed to lose a little something with the white ball but figured it was all in my head.
Really love that you did this, I love the Laddie and when I looked for compression number online people said it was between 37 and 45 and I was like no way! This made alot of since
Can you test the seed 15 and vice tour? I tried these after your reviews thinking they would be great for me and they feel like rocks to me off my old i5 irons. Was disappointed with them
Those variations when you pop same ball in multiple times, ??maybe reflects the compression of its cover which may be variable on different inconsistent areas on the surface of the ball cover.
Nick – do you still have an eBay store that has the sleeves?
Nice review Nick, definitely some surprises!! Maybe it is the cover and not necessarily the compression??
Again, good job. Glad you are testing all the brands and all the balls you compared.
Good job Nick 👍
Not surprised the Trifli was so firm. They feel super clicky to me
We are taking this data as if we knew it was absolutely accurate. To do that the accuracy needs to be verified against various standard compressions.
Good job Nick , fun to compare, what I think with reading

Great work! Thank you for doing stuff that no one else is doing and giving it away free. You are one of the good people out there in this world. This is the stuff that makes me glad to be a member. People join for just a $1 you got more than that worth in this video alone.
This might sound stupid, but here's a question I've always wondered about when it comes to compression… is there a difference in compression between a new ball right out of the sleeve and that same ball after several rounds of golf or sim testing..? if so what is that difference..?
