President Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump is taking hits on social media Tuesday after posting video of her shopping at the new Erewhon store in West Hollywood.
The reaction to the video, during which the 18-year-old golfer who reportedly earns $1 million a year through endorsements, has not been kind, with some comparing the teenager with Marie Antoinette.
After running up a $233 bill for a single bag of items, including a $21 Hailey Bieber smoothie, the young woman, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and the president’s eldest granddaughter, is seen outside what appears the recently opened West Hollywood Erewhon store, which is known for pricey, but delicious healthy food.
“I’m like, I’m about to go bankrupt with stuff,” she says at one point in a video posted to social media. “I’m going to need to file for bankruptcy.”
In the light-hearted video, entitled, “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon,” Kai Trump calls the business “the most expensive grocery store pretty much out there,” but some comments said she was tone deaf to post the YouTube video during a time when food and fuel are increasingly expensive for average Americans and a war is being waged in Iran.
One commenter suggested she be drafted into the U.S. military.
The newest Erewhon store opened with fanfare and freebies at 8550 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood on Feb. 25.
