GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Pittsburg State University men’s golf team wrapped up the first day of the Maverick Desert Classic on Monday (Mar. 9) at the Palm Valley Golf Course.

As a team, Pittsburg State is second in the standings at -5, trailing Washburn, which finished the day at -9.

Tyler Hardtarfer (-3) is one of 10 golfers tied for first place among the 86 participants. Hardtarfer finished the opening round with an eagle, four birdies, 10 pars and three bogeys. Jack Randall and Masto White (-1) are tied for 12th with White accumulating five birdies and Randall two. Keaton Thissen (E) is sitting in 18th with two birdies on the day. Theo Juhl, competing as an individual is in 27th after finishing the day +2 with two birdies and Cooper Forth (+6) rounds out the team in 55th with a birdie in the opening 18 holes.

MIAA foe, Washburn has three individuals tied with Hardtarfer for first with their fourth placed individual sitting in 18th at E for the day.
