PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina men’s golf team closed out play at The Hayt on Monday with a 3-under 285 in the final round to finish ninth overall at Sawgrass Country Club.

The Chanticleers finished the three-day tournament at 10-under 854 (288-281-285) in the 16-team field, placing ahead of several nationally ranked programs, including No. 15 Alabama and No. 20 Duke.

No. 2 Auburn captured the team title at 28-under, followed by No. 11 Texas Tech (-26), No. 21 Charlotte (-24), and No. 6 LSU (-23). No. 17 North Carolina placed fifth at 16-under, while No. 1 Virginia finished sixth at 13-under.

Leading the way for the Chanticleers was Jack Lee, who posted a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish 6-under 210 (72-68-70) and tied for 13th overall.

Drew Sykes also finished under par for the tournament, carding a 2-under 70 in Monday’s final round to tie for 34th place at 2-under 214 (71-73-70).

Max Bengtsson finished the event at even-par 216 (74-71-71) to tie for 44th place, while Santiago Schele shot 2-over 74 on Monday to finish tied for 59th at 3-over 219 (74-71-74). Harrison James also posted a 2-over 74 in the final round and finished 65th overall at 4-over 220 (73-73-74).

Competing as an individual, Lucas Arntsen recorded a 2-under 70 on Monday to finish 1-under 215 (74-71-70) and tied for 36th overall.

Individually, Auburn’s Jackson Koivun earned medalist honors at 11-under 205.

Coastal Carolina will return to action March 15–17 when it hosts The Michael A. Marino Classic at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
