March singles stableford
In the first 18-hole competition of the season, played off the Green Markers, Daniel Maher (18) accumulated a terrific total of 50 points.
An outward 23 points for the front nine was followed by a level par back nine which saw him reach the magical 50-point mark.
The runner-up, with 44 points, was James Coburn (16), followed by a trio with 42 points. Mark Shevlin (11) filled third from Robbie Black (18), with Brendan Heaney (24) the one to lose out on the prizes.
This coming weekend will be an 18-hole four-handicap category competition, with 1-2-3 overall and 1-2-3 in each of the four handicap categories in use.
The Niall McDonnell AVORA Golf Classic planned for this Saturday will now take place at a later date which is yet to be confirmed.
The new-look car park is taking shape, with the added parking spaces a most welcome addition.
Dundalk
Patrick Reilly shot the best score on the last day of February when a 15-hole singles stableford competition was played and the sun made a welcome appearance.
Reilly, playing off 15, shot an impressive 38 points to win Division 2, while Peter Rogers (2), with the competition’s second best score of 35 points, took Division 1.
Kieran McCann (29) – with 34 points – was the Division 3 winner on a day when three players had four twos between them on the par threes, with Peter Rogers birdieing the fifth and 13th holes.
Members are reminded that there will be a shotgun start team competition on St Patrick’s Day along with the traditional presentation of shamrock to the captains and presidents.

The winner of this sweep competition was 18-handicapper Mary Carr with 16 points.

A query came up at the agm as to whether or not a rule was in place in the ladies’ club regarding changing tee times on the days of competitions. The Ladies Committee can confirm that there is no such rule in place and a player can change their tee time on competition days, except on days of the Major competitions.
