  1. Respectfully the verticle line swing system seems perplexing to me. For me its much easier to keep the arms connected to the body and use a little wrist hinge. Similar to brysons chipping around the green. The full swing w bounce is an option in deep heavy rough. Ie a flopper. Way more difficult to execute than the simple move i describe.

  2. I’m 74 with a 9 handicap so. Hinge and hold works best for me for years. Your method is not my kind of golf method. It just doesn’t work for me personally. However you made a great video on your style of golf.

  3. It really bugs me when I watch videos like this where the instructor says that hinge and hold requires more precision, is less forgiving, is only for really good golfers, etc. That's just not the case. It really comes down to what you're comfortable with. I'm more of a handsy player, so the hinge and hold just feels better. I play with people who are the opposite and chip great with no wrist action. But it's just not true that it's any harder to chip with wrist hinge.

  4. Speaking from the UK.You always seem to give tips from lovely lush grass. Here in the UK in winter there is little grass. What grass there is,would not be described as LUSH.

  5. Holy crap that was a lot of words and the word “bounce” with zero instruction. That’s 8 minutes 30 seconds I’ll never get back.

  6. Liked this chipping lesson. Subscriber for last couple years from mid-Michigan. Like the way Todd explains things; makes it understandable and transferable to my game.

  7. How does bounce help on a really firm or thin cut fairway . Or fring? I feel like the bounce helps me only on chips where iam in the rough or the ball is propped up on thicker fringe

  8. Without watching this video, I'll give you my tip. ALWAYS have the face open regardless of length of chip or short pitch. ALWAYS! Vary the amount with the length and kind-trajectory of chip or pitch you're attempting. This will help immensely with preventing fat shots and will get some decent spin on the ball.

  9. Personally for me and I must state up front I EXCLUSIVELY chip with a 64 degree wedge. I always take it to the hole. I never bump and run. I find to do this I first have my feet touching each other ball back of my right foot I shift my hips and I hinge but finish not hold and I can put tremendous spin on the ball to stop it dead.☠️ but that’s me.

  10. Thanks for the vertical line system, which seems to make good sense. I will work on this to stop duffing my wedge shots. I live in Charleston, SC at the age of 71…play all year around!

  11. Can work? It does work obviously because Phil has made a living at it! Watch Mickelsons hinge and hold video people…the way to go!
