For Americans striving to join a country club with a golf course, fine dining, and impeccable service at their fingertips, it may come at an untenable price that even a Powerball winning couldn’t buy.

Conversations surrounding the quality of country clubs in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, have been circulating online because of the steep price a membership could cost you. Plus, there are other exclusivity factors that could shut you out from joining entirely.

The golf club scene in the Lone Star State will cost you a stunning six figures just for the initiation fees, if you’re able to even become a member in the first place.

Rick Golfs, or @Top100Rick, posted on X that “Everyone is talking about the Dallas country club prices.” He was referring to a new article in the latest issue of the Dallas-Fort Worth-based golf magazine Avid Golfer, which revealed the most expensive country clubs in the area.

“Yes $250,000 is a lot. Yes $30,000 a year is a lot,” Rick wrote. The country club at the top of the list is the Vaquero Club, which has an initiation fee of $325,000 and monthly dues of $3,250.

“But the crazy part? If you won Powerball tomorrow, you’d still never be able to join a bunch of them,” he continued. “Preston Trail, Dallas, Northwood, Brookhollow you better go find a member to marry if you want in.”

“Sounds pretty cool. How I feel walking into Costco so I don’t have to deal with Walmart people,” one user joked in response. However, Costco doesn’t have years-long waiting lists like these country clubs.

Others in the golf community scoffed at the list, writing, “There isn’t a single club on this list you’d want to join.”

Someone else commented, “Something tells me if you win the powerball, you can find someone to marry into for Preston Trail, Dallas, Northwood, and Brookhollow.”

While the odds of winning the Powerball Grand Prize are 1 in 292.2 million, your odds of stepping foot into one of these country clubs may be slimmer.

How to become a member at the best country clubs in Texas?

As Rick Golf suggested, the only way to get into one of the gold standard country clubs in Texas is to literally marry into a family with a membership or become close friends with members.

For Vaquero, you can only access the highly exclusive, private club through invitation only, according to top100golfcourses.com. Brook Hollow Golf Club ranked second on the list, with an initiation fee of $242,000 and monthly dues of $1,565, and membership is limited and selective.

Third on the list was Dallas Country Club with an initiation fee of $225,000 and monthly dues of $1,305. Its website describes the club as “a full-service, family-oriented social Club dedicated to providing exceptional service, premier amenities, and a welcoming community for its members.” Yet again, membership is by invitation only, and there’s a “traditional admission process.”

These country clubs have everything from state-of-the-art golf courses, fine-dining, family activities, social opportunities, and professional service and other amenities, like tennis courts, pools, fitness rooms. Plus, professional golfers and celebrities frequent country clubs such as these.

For some clubs, trying to join as a legacy member can improve your chances of getting onto the membership waiting list. However, as Rick wrote on X, “With the most exclusive ones, most have zero chance of even making a wait list.”
