It’s an all-Mercedes front row in Melbourne – and Max Verstappen will be starting his Red Bull-RBPT Honda from the back of the grid. Max’s new team-mate, Isack Hadjar, starts P3, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and the two McLaren-Mercedes of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris; Sir Lewis Hamilton lines up in P7 in the other Ferrari. In this video, Peter looks at the key elements of those results and delves into the reasons behind the Lap 1, Q1 accident that resulted in Verstappen’s uncharacteristic slide into the barrier.

  1. It’s a sport for geeks now. Pole sitter is ~3 seconds slower than last year .. cars visibly and audibly slow down on the straights… from a
Real racing point of view and a drivers fun point of view and skill point of view F2 F3 must be up there

  2. so nice to see 3 pure racers in the top 3..not kamikaze fraudphuqstappen…violent son of jos the woman beating dad

  3. Watched qualifying live…what an Absolute joke, I’ve followed F1 for 60yrs now and am seriously thinking of no longer bothering! Drivers having to watch a bloody battery icon on the steering wheel and the fact that Max’s accident could well have been caused by the new braking being dominated by the mjuk unit makes it really dangerous. Hats off to the teams and drivers for dealing with the new regs but the whole F1 thing has become a bloody joke!

  4. "sir" Peter Windsor…. 1st 30 seconds of your BS in this video just make me to never again take a look on non of your FIA propaganda, end of last season i discover your channel and was like; okay this man know what he's talking about without sensationalism! But… but watching you after every race i just confirm myself that it's not worthy to waste a time on all of this… 2009 F1 lost the essence of what once was, constant downgrading since than… sell your bs propaganda to someone else! so long..

  5. peter audi is already ahead of williams, alpine, haas, Cadillac amd aston. they will score points and sainz is firing his agent.

  6. One curiosity on the Verstappen crash: With friction brakes, effectiveness increases as speed falls, which is why avoiding lockup is such a challenge, but with regenerative braking it's the reverse, making lockup from regen alone almost impossible.

  7. Really like the commentary however the needless complexity of F1 is now so bureaucratic .
It’s not a good look to see the number of cars with no power or to see Max spin off because of bullshit mechanical complexity.
    The cars look slow.
Feeling very down about the state of F1

  8. Have you guys seen the graphic of lando 2025 pole lap vs George's today? It's like 2 diff worlds smh. Thanks alot fia.
