PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Junior Jack Lee fired a 3-under 69 to lead the Coastal Carolina men’s golf team after the opening round of The Hayt, hosted by North Florida at Sawgrass Country Club.

As a team, Coastal Carolina posted an even-par 288 and sits 12th overall in the 16-team field heading into Sunday’s second round. The Chanticleers finished the day ahead of No. 20 Duke, No. 31 Louisville, and host North Florida, all of whom are nationally ranked, in a tournament featuring eight nationally ranked teams.

Lee paced the Chanticleers with a steady round that included four birdies against just one bogey. He turned in a 35 on the front nine and 34 on the back to finish tied for 14th individually at 3-under.

Harrison James posted an even-par 72 to sit tied for 35th, while Drew Sykes carded a 1-over 73 and is tied for 50th after 18 holes.

Max Bengtsson added a 2-over 74 and sits tied for 66th, while Santiago Schele shot a 5-over 77 to round out the Coastal lineup.

Competing as an individual, Lucas Arntsen recorded a 2-over 74 and is tied for 66th after the opening round.

On the team leaderboard, No. 6 LSU leads the tournament at 14-under, followed by No. 1 Virginia (-12). No. 2 Auburn and No. 15 Alabama are tied for third at 9-under after the first round.

Individually, Duke’s William Love holds the first-round lead at 6-under par.

The 54-hole event continues Sunday with the second round before concluding Monday with the final round at Sawgrass Country Club.
