  1. I've been running last years Wilson and I find that smash is often low. Good hits between 1.43-1.49 and not often over 1.5. My friend is almost always over 1.5 with his Cobra. Strange. šŸ¤”

  2. I think a fair number of people will choose this driver- consistency/dispersion, distance good, $150 cheaper than big names—- does the job especially for those who haven’t been in the driver market for 10 years. Also, as a side note, the G82 seems to give really good information. Thanks Gabe

  3. When a new driver comes out I always look at last years model see what price they have dropped plus after a year of being in play you find out just what they are like to use

  4. I wanted to try it but I decided on the TM because it was only $150 more. I like it but haven’t found the right shaft for it.

  5. Curious, you mentioned that your readings were affected by the headwind. When I was getting fitted at an outdoor facility, the fitter told me that wind didn’t affect the readings, just the flight of the actual golf ball. We were using a gc quad and wondering if the handhelds are different. Thanks!

  6. Nice looking stick…can't believe you seemed disappointed with 272 especially with strike location lol. Nothing over-rides face to path for workability. Tech can calm it down but skill will always take precedent. Man we ain't never satisfied šŸ˜‚

  7. If I was in the mood for a new driver I would definitely give Wilson drivers a shot.

  8. Just based off of sticker price you’re getting in the range of clubs I’m just going to get a fitting for and bite the bullet if I have to pay an extra 100$ for something that I get significantly better performance out of. That’s something out of my budget and need as a higher handicap so I’m more looking at 300-400$ to be an option because I can go to a shop and get last years model from one of the name brands for 300$ if I can find a deal on a used one. Maybe there’s a niche market for 10-15 handicap that struggles with drives and needs to keep the budget lower, but it doesn’t make sense unless you’re getting fitted into it.

  9. I bought the LS model last year and love it. Been working on my mechanics a bit and noticed substantial gain in distance . Out driving my buddies with a "lesser" brand driver is satisfying šŸ˜‚ especially when that wasnt the case before this year.

  10. I never hit a Wilson before. I going to give a try this weekend probably. I am currently gaming a R7 mini 11.5 degree just the stock shaft for now. Probably would hit the Core and LS models if possible. Some those LS models from the OEM’s with a stock shaft are 699.00.

  11. I was fit for the ā€˜24 Wilson Staff CBs a few months ago. I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger at that time but I just got a brand new, still in the plastic, set for only $650! You can’t beat that price to performance.

  12. The LINQ Power core line up of shafts as a stock option is a 350 dollar shaft at retail. Ricky and others playing it on tour and an up charge shaft with others like TM. So if one of those shafts really works for you then this adds tremendous value.

  13. Man, I just priced this out with my preferred Ventus Black 5 VC+ X shaft and my preferred grip and the total is $866.99 OUCH

  14. I’m a big fan of Wilson, I think their clubs hold their own against anything on the market. But—I feel like the $499 price point will hold this one back a bit.

IMO, a lot of buyers in the $500+ market probably aren’t losing sleep over the extra ~$150, and would rather go for a bigger name with better resale value, while the more budget oriented buyers are probably looking more in the $300-400 area. $499 just kinda misses both of those groups.

  15. Not related to this review, but interested to know why you don’t play the Maltby TS3 when you rated them so well.

  16. I think you nailed the value proposition with the resale. Assuming you get a new driver every year or 2 the Wilson sale/trade-in value shrinks that cost difference between the $650 drivers. As a cheapskate I tend to trade my driver in to CPO for last year's model in Like New condition.
