Bridgestone is claiming their new ball is helping players gain on average 2.3 mph of ball speed and 8.7 yards in total distance. I tested Bridgestone’s Prototype golf ball against their competitors to see if it’s actually a faster ball.

  1. Great comparison. I was able to get a dozen VS Black and had similar results. It actually knuckleballed on me couple of times.
I think TOUR BX is still better.

  2. You’re getting 1.5 smash factors so of course your numbers will be indentical or near identical as every thing basically behaves the exact same when at the material limits set by the USGA. The only big contributors here would be dimple pattern and layer contributions to spin dynamics. The way to test ball speed increases would be to test off the toe and off the heel to see which balls come out faster on strikes you know shouldn’t produce near 1.5 smash. Like the tp5/x might only get a 1.42 on a toe where the vs might give you a 1.47 or something.
