A subscriber asked for a breakdown of Erik van Rooyen’s golf swing, so in this video we rewind things a bit and do an old school Lion Golf Academy analysis.

Let’s take a look at why tour swings can look so effortless, and what most golfers completely miss.

  1. I have always loved this guys swing, it seems so effortless and powerful at the same time

  2. This old man watching today wishes he had more understanding of what you are preaching when I started 50 years ago

  3. That’s it; I’m done! No more YouTube guru’s for me. I’m headed back to the land of Flick and Toski, where I started and belong. Swing and feel the club head! 😊

  4. No magic wrist gadgets? But sir, how are supposed to fix our swings? Those gadgets must work, every golf channel is praising them ….

  5. Ha, enjoyed the vid but didn't understand half the points you made. He has a nice swing and he probably doesn't think about any of those positions. That would be nice to be able just to not think about positions and trust your swing. I think I have maybe have kicked that position habit for good.

  6. Awesome video. Always enjoy. Do you still do amateur analysis? Secondly, could you do a video on how you set up and the compensations you make when your angles are off? If that makes sense.

  7. Tour swing is effortless because they do this thing all day. Everyday. 24/7. They live and breathe golf. Meanwhile me that has a 9-5 is just trying not to shank 😅😅😅😅

  8. IMO, most tour players look violent with swings and not effortless. Effortless to me is guys like Ernie Els, Jake Knapp, Fred Couples etc. Those 3 all hit it long. Most long hitters today look like their internal skeletons are about leap out of their bodies and scatter all over the tee box, due to the amount of violent force applied. I have mad respect for guys like Knapp, smooth effortless power.

  9. A question for Ben and you. If he's drunk on tequila, ignore him.
If there was a swing that was the only one for all human, which would it be ??
    I have my thoughts.
