CHARLESTON, S.C.- In a competitive Gators Invitational field, Charlotte Men’s Golf started their spring season with a fifth-place finish at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. This marked the 49th year of the event, tied for sixth longest-run D1 golf tournament. The course was played as a par-70 at 6,701 yards.

The 15-team field includes eight of the top 100 in the latest NCAA Clippd rankings – NC State (46), Charleston (52), High Point (71), Xavier (80), Furman (82), Charlotte (83), Western Kentucky (88), East Carolina (96).

The Daniel Island Club opened in 2001 and has since become one of the premier golf destinations in the Lowcountry. The private, members-only club features two championship courses: Beresford Creek, designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio, and Ralston Creek, designed by Rees Jones. The club has also hosted professional-level events.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK

On Wednesday, Pinky Chaisilprungruang was named the American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week. This marked Chaisilprungruang’s fourth American Golfer of the Week award of her career while being named Golfer of the Month on three occasions.

In a stacked field at the Thunderbird Intercollegiate that featured seven ranked teams and five individuals ranked inside the top 15, Chaisilprungruang shot six under par (210) in three rounds of play. This was her seventh career top five finish and fifth of this season. Pinky ranks as the 50th individual golfer in the nation by Scoreboard.
