The Mizzou men’s golf team opened play at the Colleton River Collegiate on Sunday, placing eighth of 15 teams through two rounds of action.
Junior Veikka Viskari led the Tigers by placing 11th of 92 golfers through 36 holes, finishing the day at three-under par. Viskari birdied four of his first six holes before finishing the first round at -5 – tied for the third-best score in either round on the day. He finished with 10 birdies overall in the 36 holes as he is just outside the top 10 at -3 (67-74).
Virgilio Paz is second on the team at +2 (74-72), followed by Trent Mierl (73-74) at +3 and Reese Roberts (78-70) and Brock Snyder (75-73) at +4. Roberts led Mizzou in the second round – carding four birdies against just two bogeys – matching his collegiate-best round with a 70 during his freshman campaign.
Overall, the Tigers are +2 as a team through 36 holes – posting matching tallies of 289 in each round. No. 50 Kentucky sits first in the tournament at -12.
The final round of action begins on Monday morning at 6:45 a.m. CT.
