Today I dive into JumboMax Grips — and what a proper grip fitting actually looks like.
Over the past 5–10 seasons, JumboMax has moved from niche to mainstream, stepping firmly into the spotlight with 2x U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau. Since then, players like Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, and Jason Day have also made the switch.
But this isn’t just about “bigger grips.”
In this video, I walk through the full JumboMax fitting process — including their AI fitting tool — and then test different sizes and weights to dial in swing weight, start line, curvature, and launch window. Grip size doesn’t just change feel… it can influence direction, strike pattern, and face control.
As fitters and players, the grip is our only connection to the club. If we don’t get that right, everything else becomes a compensation.
With all the buzz on tour, I wanted to properly understand the process — not just the marketing.

Did you leave TaylorMade? Odd that you are not wearing a TaylorMade hat. If you are still on TaylorMade, what will you do about other brands when you open the trott shop?
Hi trottie! I am a scratch golfer, 41 years of age. I always played X flex and went to graphite stiff, but feels heavy for me. I am having a lot of problems with my left wrist. It hurts so much, that I just cant swing the club. I tried my friends golf clubs, with the KBS PGI Senior flex, YES senior flex, and felt effortless and my wrist didn't hurt that much. I do not have the guts to pull that trigger, however, I am thinking going for this grips. I play the Taylormade CB irons with 120g graphite shaft, and feels heavy when I go back on my swing. Any comments? Really need your feedback to help your boy out! Thank you so much!
Finally
Former professional catcher here. My left thumb, from years of getting “thumbed” while catching, had always given me issues on my swings. About a year and a half ago I gave Jumbo Max a try hoping they would take some pressure off my thumb. I gripped my 7i and Driver with Jumbo Max and used it on my sim for about a week. Ordered a whole set at that point. By mid summer the thumb issue had disappeared. Love the grips.
Which one did you end up going with? So I have been playing with the ultralight for multiple seasons, but have figured out that I like the counter balance in my Driver and Fairway wood, and the Ultralight in the irons and hybrid. So make sure you retest grip fitting in the woods.
I just did an iron fitting this morning and I fit with zen lite xs. I gained 2 mph of ball speed with this grip.
I play the JMX tour medium and I assume its what normal sized humans think a jumbo feels like.
