With over 20 unique mini-golf courses and creatively decorated golf carts, families and locals are invited to join in on the fun to raise money for educational and cultural enrichment through funding support.
The Safety Harbor Public Library Foundation, a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization, established in 2006 to encourage support to ensure the library continues to thrive. The Foundation was created to ensure the residents of Safety Harbor and Pinellas County have a strong and secure library for the future.
Scott Long, Vice President of the Safety Harbor Public Library Foundation, said selling tickets to the mini-golf event felt like a fun way to raise money for a good cause.
“I’m a child of the 80s. My whole blood is nostalgia,” Long said. “I just remember playing mini golf with the windmill and the clown face (as a kid), and this is a more fun way of doing it.”
Local businesses and groups can sponsor and build each of the 24 mini-golf holes, offering a creative way for local businesses to participate.
For golf carts, families and participants can sign up for $10 to compete for the most creative decorative cart with three categories: Habor Life, Patriotice, or Humorous.
The golf cart cruise-in includes parking space for your golf cart on Main Street and entry into our Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice contests for prizes.
“A town like this, you see everyone you know. For people to get together and support the library, that’s really special,” said Cammie Lumpkin, President of the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce, which created a grapefruit-themed hole for the event.
Links for Our Library Mini-Golf Main Festival and Golf Cart Cruise-In will be a street festival, with food trucks, vendors, and a group golf costume contest.
The winning group for the costume contest wins a gift certificate for a private movie screening for 32 people at Gigglewaters Social Club and Screening Room, located at 737 Main Street in Safety Harbor.
The event, which is for all ages, runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday on Feb. 28.
An after party for the community event will be at Harbor Bar until 10:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased HERE, as well as at the gazebo on Main Street before the event if there is availability.
