Brooks Koepka appeared to fix his putting woes on Friday at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.
The 35-year-old American carded a five-under 66 at PGA National – his lowest round since returning to the PGA Tour following his exit from LIV Golf – to comfortably make the cut.
In his post-round interview, the five-time major champion revealed he had been working intensely on his setup and believed that contributed to him being the second best putter in the field on the day.
On day one, Koepka was 111th in Strokes Gained: Putting, but rolled in 79 feet of putts made on day two to be ranked second behind Austin Smotherman.
It was quite the turnaround.

What Koepka didn’t mention, however, was the fact that he also decided to change golf ball for the first time since the 2022 campaign.

Koepka is a Srixon staff player and uses their irons, wedges and ball.
Which made his decision to swap out the Srixon Z-Star Diamond for a 2025 version of the Titleist ProV1x all the more surprising.
Alistair Cameron, the senior content manager of the PGA Tour, shared a picture on his X profile that showed Koepka clutching the ball with the script and side stamp blacked out.

Koepka had been using the Z-Star Diamond since his victory at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
It’s unclear if the change is permanent, but one that gear heads will be monitoring going forward.

Koepka’s equipment tweaks
This is not the only equipment switch that Koepka has made this year.
After more than a decade gaming a Scotty Cameron blade putter, Koepka switched to a TaylorMade Spider for the WM Phoenix Open after a disastrous performances on the greens the prior week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Koepka told reporters before his hometown event in Florida that he believes he’s finally getting to grips with the Spider.

He had two weeks off after the WM Phoenix Open as he wasn’t eligible for the signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera.
“I probably hit 300 putts with it before I actually played,” he said.
“But having two weeks of being able to get work done and make some adjustments, it should be a lot better.
“I didn’t know where exactly I was hitting it, and obviously when you change putters, speed becomes another thing, and I felt like the speed was slightly off.
“Now I understand exactly where to hit it and where it’s going. I feel like my speed control has gotten better, and just with a few changes, just tidying those things up.”
