The Mizzou men’s golf team is back in action for the first time in two weeks, competing at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, South Carolina, starting on Sunday.  

TOURNAMENT INFO 

The tournament is set for three rounds over two days, playing 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday. Sunday is set to begin at 7 a.m. CT and Monday at 6:45 a.m. CT. 

COURSE OVERVIEW 

The team will compete at Colleton River Club in Bluffton, South Carolina – a par-72 course that measures 7,403 yards in length. 

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION 

The Tigers are one of 15 schools competing this week in Bluffton. Joining Mizzou on the course is No. 39 Cincinnati, No. 42 Northwestern, No. 50 Kentucky, host Michigan State, East Tennessee State, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Memphis, Minnesota, Ohio State, Rutgers and Tennessee Chattanooga.  

LAST YEAR AT THE COLLETON RIVER

The Tigers placed 11 of 16 schools at last year’s tournament with host Michigan State finishing first, followed by Kansas State and Chattanooga.  

Virgilio Paz led Mizzou by finishing eighth overall at +2 (70-72-76) – his second top-10 finish as a Tiger. He recorded nine birdies throughout the tournament to lead the team in scoring.  

SPRING OPENER RECAP 

The Tigers opened the spring campaign in Hawaii two weeks ago, placing 16th at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.

Senior Virgilio Paz led Mizzou in scoring for the first time this season, recording a score of +7 during the 54-hole tournament (71-73-73).

Through six tournaments overall this season, Veikka Viskari leads the team in stroke average at 72.28, followed by Trent Mierl (73.06) and Paz (74.00).
