Glad to hear his injuries aren’t life-threatening but as someone who works in the elevator industry, I don’t know how you make this mistake other than being completely immersed in your phone or blindfolded. The inside of an elevator shaft looks unrecognizable compared to the inside of an elevator car. And for the door to open at a floor the car wasn’t at so many electronic safeties would have to be bypassed by a worker and forgotten about or there was a catastrophic electrical failure. People are going to be fired.

I watch people saunter across the street every single day without a care in the world while their faces are buried in their phones.
I knew someone with a similar fate. He wasn’t a golfer, he owned an Italian deli in town and owed a lot of debts. He was never the same after the “accident”, walking with a cane for the rest of his life
