PGA Tour golf news

Adam Scott is among the notable withdraws at the Cognizant Classic.

There are several notable withdraws at the Cognizant Classic as the PGA Tour heads to the Palm Beaches. On Monday, February 23, the PGA Tour announced several withdrawls ahead of the Cognizant Classic. The news comes just days before the tournament started on Thursday, February 26.

One golfer is coming off a stellar TGL performance this week but had a change of heart on his status at the Cognizant Classic. Former Masters winner Adam Scott has withdrawn from the Cognizant Classic with Chan Kim taking his spot.

Additional withdraws include Ben Griffin and Patrick Rodgers. Fresh off his first PGA Tour win at the Genesis Invitational, Jacob Bridgeman will not be looking for back-to-back victories as the golfer has also withdrawn from the Cognizant Classic.

The late additions to the Cognizant Classic field include Jackson Suber, Lanto Griffin, Brandt Snedeker and Harry Higgs.

Here’s what you need to know about the Cognizant Classic.

Adam Scott Has Earned More Than $70 Million Over His PGA Tour Career

Since turning pro in 2000, Scott as accumulated quite a resume with 14 wins, including the 2013 Masters. Scott has earned more than $70.9 million during his career. The golfer impressed with his driver at TGL earlier this week during Boston’s win over New York.

“Yeah, it seems I’ve gained a little bit of speed the last few weeks on Tour,” Scott told reporters on February 24. “I delofted my driver by a degree and picked up some speed. Yeah, that’s been working well, and it worked well tonight.

“Yeah, I was a little shaky the first couple putts that mattered on the new green. It’s a lot to get in your head, all the little bits. It’s harder to read than a green outside. The light just is not that helpful for that in here.”

Adams Scott Pushes TGL to ‘Really Lean Into’ Unique Golf Holes

Scott is one of several notable golfers balancing the PGA Tour with the TGL, an innovative indoor golf competition. The golfer explained why TGL should lean into not being a traditional golf tournament.

During the Monday, February 23, competition, one hole was called the Caverns and had the feel of golfers hitting shots inside a cave.

“Yeah, I think this is what TGL should really lean into, these kind of peculiar golf holes compared to what we usually play outside,” Scott explained. “I think it’s a lot of fun.

“I think you’re going to get more variables happening with our shots, and it’s demanding and kind of highlight our skills and open up the whole competition. I like it. Hopefully they continue to lean into it more and more.”
