Qualicum Beach council has awarded the contract for the Eaglecrest Golf Course reconfiguration project.
Grass Roots Enterprises, a Vancouver Island company that specializes in golf course design, management and renovation, has been awarded the project with a bid of $1,181,800, excluding GST. The company was one of three qualified contractors to respond to the town’s request for quotations and presented the strongest overall submission and contract price.
The reconfiguration of Eaglecrest golf course is an important step in bringing the course, facilities, and equipment to a suitable operational standard.
The project scope includes reconstruction of the third hole, new tee boxes on holes five, seven, eight and nine, construction of a new eighth hole, and reshaping of the ninth hole fairway. The reconfiguration will require selective tree removal as well as tree planting.
The golf course preliminary reconfiguration design, which was included in the Request for Quotation, was designed through consultation with Eaglecrest Golf Course members, and a third-party golf course renovation expert Keso Turf Supplies.
Grass Roots Enterprises, acting as a design-build contractor, brings its expertise to create an optimal configuration, and will continue to improve the playability of the course while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
Work will commence this week with a target to complete the reconfiguration works as soon as possible. The selection process for a golf course operator is also underway, with the town seeking the best long-term fit.
Updated design plans will be shared as the work progresses.
