Had a bit of free time so started designing a course, got very into it. Reckon there's potential for some pretty big moments playing this course. The darker the green, the higher elevation. Imagining standing on the 13th tee looking out on the whole course 100ft below you. 2 high pressure par 3's at the end of the front and back 9's, both greens in front of the clubhouse, ultimate embarrassment or glory at stake. Some massively elevated tee shots down hills and through tight corridors of trees, as well as some tricky uphill shots. Some tight fairways all around the lake making accuracy off the tee essential. And of course a couple of opportunities for big hitters to cut some corners if they're brave enough, including a split fairway on 10, a very tight and risky angle down the right for what could be a driveable green, or play it safe to the wider fairway on the left and get to the green in 2. I know next to 0 about course design so don't crucify me, i'm sure there are some glaring flaws.

Seems you have a lot of holes that are driveable – Hole 1, Hole 4, Hold 8, Hole 10, Hole 11. I would increase distance on some of those and make the driveable holes at the end of 18 to encourage decision making and drama

  2. If you’ve got a PS5 or an Xbox, the course builder for PGA Tour 2K25 is really comprehensive. There’s 77 PAGES of different Trees you can place. I’ve had a lot of fun building existing courses and messing around with designing my own. Currently working on my friend’s CC course so we can play it together online.

How do you get to the forward tees on 14? Also, hitting over the cart path on 11, 15, and 17 is just asking for trouble.

18 over water at 190…that clubhouse/parking lot is getting hit.

  5. TheUnknownMold

Dogleg Left off the first tee box? RIP my round immediately.

Ever consider a mega-green shared by 9 and 18 right in front of the clubhouse. Looks fun in my mind!

  7. Grok_In_Fullness

18 looks fun, but might cause a big backup if players have to wait for a group in front of them to finish, tee off, and then go all the way around the lake and the adjacent par 4 to get to the green.

  8. Important_Sound_8718

Expect assholes to either wreck their carts on the hairpin turns or just drive through the weeds after they tee off on 14 LOL

  9. Looks fun in theory.

But IRL, it would be pretty annoying to tee off on 18, walk 2 miles to the green

  10. DarkPrince23

what software or website allows you to make this? thought about getting 2k25 but havent pulled the trigger yet

Under Par Golf architect might be up your ally. Steam demo days for free right now.

Nice! Tee box on 16 better watch out for some drives though

  13. Alive_Report_9815

6 looks brutal chocked landing area from the tee into island green is diabolical

  14. network_dude

you need four tee boxes per hole
There are lots of folks who can’t stick greens over 120yds and lots that can’t carry a driver more than 150yds

  15. Kuntzsplitter

Looks like quite a few dog legs to the right, I know they’re only slight and each one does have a different set up by the green, just some food for thought

  16. bacon_cpa

Speaking from home course experience, starting with a short par 4, par 3, and reachable par 5 will cause frusturating backups. I’d reroute the front nine to go 1,6,5,2,3,4,7,8,9

  17. scoobydooobydoowop

3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 being all slight doglegs to the right is too repetitive.

This is why I dont understand the hype with praising course designers. Give any man unlimited dirt and a dozer he is going to make a pretty cool golf course

  19. marych3esy2752

finishing on a par 3 is def unconventional but could make for some epic last-hole drama lol

  20. deapspace

People on hole 9 tee box in danger from people on Hole 1 who haven’t warmed up.

Could use a few more bridges or paths, and buffer zones.

    Fun course tho!

9 and 18 being water-heavy Par-3s is very interesting and unique.

Would make for very entertaining moments spectating from the “19th hole”.

    Solid OP! 👍🏼

  22. Make 14 a par 4, 17 becomes 16 but played in reverse, add a par 3 behind current 16 green, 18 is a risk-reward par 5 over water.

One of my first thoughts – take a second look at how long your holes are

    Hole | Front 9 | Kind of Hole | Difficulty | Back 9 | Kind of Hole | Difficulty
    ——|———–|———–|———–|———-|———–|————
    1/10 | 330 | Bend Left | Easy-Medium | 300 | Dogleg Right | Short, Easy-Medium
    2/11 | 180 | Distance Control | Medium | 330 | Straight, Uphill tee | Easy
    3/12 | 495 | Bend Right | Easy-Medium | 620 | Bend Left, Hard up approach | Long, Medium-Hard
    4/13 | 330 | Dogleg Right | Easy-Medium | 215 | Awkward Par 3 | Hard
    5/14 | 445 | Downhill Tee, Bend Right, Hazard Right | Long, Medium-Hard | 530 | Bend Right, Downhill Tee | Medium
6/15 | 660 | Bend Right, Hazard Right and at Layup | Long, Difficult | 410 | Dogleg Left, Hazard Left and Long | Difficult
    7/16 | 385 | Forced Layup, Hazard Right | Medium-Hard | 360 | Dispersion Control | Medium
    8/17 | 300 | Drivable Green | Short, Medium | 370 | Dogleg Left, Hazard Left and Approach | Medium
    9/18 | 145 | Island Green | Medium | 180 | Forced Carry | Hard
    Total | Out: | 3270 | In: | 3325 | Total: 6595

    A couple of comments

    – a 660 par 5, and another par 5 playing like 650, are not friendly holes, even at a yardage of 6600. To me, you have to save those crazy long holes for a longer yardage. Effectively, those two holes are par 6 material.
    – It seems like there are a lot of relatively easier par 4s in relation to the rest of the course. When an Island Green is your easiest par 3, that is telling something about your course design
    – Both 9s ending on a par 3?

I would be looking at this re-arrangement:

    Front 9

    – 1 – starts outside OP’s holes 1 and 2. Long par 4
    – 2 – OP’s existing hole 3, longer back tee to connect with 1s green. Medium par 5
    – 3 – OP’s existing hole 4, trees grown inside the dogleg. Short par 4
    – 4 – OP’s existing hole 5, less of a bend left, more trees between green and OPs holes 2/6. Medium par 4
    – 5 – OP’s existing hole 2. Medium par 3
    – 6 – OP’s hole 6, but Tips are where OP’s 1 green is, wider fairway landing area. Green would get moved up to just after the hazard to really deter you from going for it in 2 unless you can hole a 3 wood. Long par 5, but lots of room around 100ish to lay up. Netting in front of 7s green to limit errant shots hitting someone else
    – 7 – Approach shot of OP’s par 7. 215ish from the tips, Long par 3
    – 8 – Would become 330ish from the tips, the green would be shifted back and to the left a bit. Drivable par 4.
    – 9 – Tees in place of OP’s existing hole 1, Fairway works from in between bunkers towards OP’s existing 9 tee. Green is the same island green as OP’s drawing. Par 4, Island Green

    Back 9

    – 10 – OP’s 10 tees, OP’s 11 green, becomes a dogleg left with tree coverage inside the dogleg. Short-Medium par 4
    – 11 – OP’s existing 12th hole, Fairway is shorter from the start of it to make room for forward tees. Long par 5
    – 12 – (13 Tee to Fairway) OP’s 13th hole, but with the green where that fairway is. Forced carry over rough, and lots of sand. Short par 3
    – 13 – (13 Green to 6 Green) Tees are between OP’s 13th green and left of the cart path. Wide landing zone, that uses OP’s 14th hole first fairway, and goes straight through his existing 7th tees and finishes on his existing 6th green. That green might be moved a bit left in relation to the par 5 to generate a safe area. Tees would also be in between the fairway/green, and other holes green/tees. Long par 5, downhill tee shot.
    – 14 – (7 Fairway to 15 Tee) Tees would be where OP’s 7th fairway is, Green would be where OP’s existing 15 back tee is. Long par 3.
    – 15 – OP’s 15th hole, but with the tips further right to generate space to the previous green, and the middle/forward tees to the left of where they are and a bit closer to the hole, avoiding the par 3 in the process. Bunker outside the fairway would get removed to ease the difficult landing area. Medium par 4
    – 16 – OP’s 16th hole, Tips use the forward tee of OP’s 18th hole. Wider Fairway to catch tee shots. Medium par 4
    – 17 – OP’s 17th hole, Green is moved towards where the cart path is. Medium par 4
    – 18 – (12/17 Fairway Bunkers to 18 Green) Dogleg Left with Fairway around the pond. Tees above OP’s 17 fairway, Green is OP’s existing 18th green. Long par 4.

  24. ShraderBrew

I love the 6th par 5. I can’t see many getting there in 2. How do you get to the 18th green from the tee box?

  25. SomeGuyClickingStuff

A short par 4, a par 3, then a reachable par 5 to start???? Tee times are gonna be behind after the first few groups.

  26. HennyBogan

having 3 of your 4 par 5’s (3, 6, & 12) all pointing the same direction is not ideal. if the wind blows from S to N then all 3 will play longer than the yardage, if the wind blows from N to S then all three will play shorter.

When it comes to par 3’s and par 5’s, try to have them all pointed in different directions. that way regardless of the wind they all have unique challenges.

For shorter hitters the split fairways on 6 and 12 might force them into a shorter layup and then a very long approach. Potentially creating holes they can not reach in regulation. For women and seniors, they may have to lay up on the first fairway with their 3rd shot because they are not long enough to reach the second fairway in 3.
