It’s complicated, the new F1, so Mark Slade in this video has created some easy visuals to show the relationship between electric power (both Standard and Override) and car speed. Copy, print and keep with you as you watch the 2026 season unfold…

  1. If you actually use overtake I believe it's 0.5Mj gone. That is 1.4 seconds of 350KW lost. I just don't get yet how the overtaken car is not going to immediately power past the car that overtook them. Or the overtaking car has to deliberately go slow at some, or multiple, points after the overtake to try and regain their energy. Also I think the car about to be overtaken may allow the overtake and deliberately clip more so they are energy rich, while the overtaking car is energy poor out of the corner to re-pass. Should be interesting to see what happens. Not convinced using overtake is the way to go. Maybe just a short burst, but it is a double edged sword.

  2. This is anti racing. The FiA are a disgrace to motorsports. May as well be watching Formula E. It’s shit

  3. So Monte Carlo will be even more boring than ever, if that is possible. Even if one removed the chicane after the tunnel, I don't see cars reaching sufficient speed by Tabak to employ the facility..

  4. Whatever happened to run what you brung. V10 please. F1 be going like NASCAR. All these teams with no choices make it all like formula E.

  5. hows this for a radical idea. How about overtaking requiring the driver behind to be faster than the car in front rather than needing electrical assistance?? I know, its a bit of an out there idea

  6. F1 is going to be a bad joke in 2026. Bring the V10's back and get rid of this clipping nonsense

  7. I have been watching F1 for over 30 years, from Senna driving into tamburello to Schumacher destroying the field at catalunya '96, from Alonso crashing in the rain in a Ferrari at Spa to Verstappen becomg the goat in a slower car dethroning Hamilton. Many ups and downs I have witnessed, but…..I have NEVER been so disinteresed in the sport as much as this year!

  8. Artificial racing basically. Like everything else their pumping into our lives now. Such a shame
