RALEIGH, N.C. – William Sundborn tied for 34th place Sunday after the final round of the Richard Sykes Individual was cancelled due to heavy rain at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

Sundborn was one of three Campbell golfers competing in the 76-player field on the par-71, 7119-yard Arnold Palmer signature design.  A freshman from Oslo, Norway, he shot a one-under par 70 in Saturday’s opening round before finishing the event at four-over 146 (70-76).  Sundborn made four birdies in his opening round, marking the fifth time he has played par, or better, golf in six events this season.

Senior Malik Dao from Notre-Dame-de’I’ll-Perrot, Quebec tied for 40th at 5-over 147 (77-70).  His opening round included a hole-in-one on the 109-yard, par-three 17th.  Dao then turned in his best round since joining the Campbell program before the 2024-25 season, with a one-under 70 that included four birdies.

Freshman Adrian Bergqvist from Stockholm, Sweden tied for 45th at 6-over 148 (72-76).  He made five birdies over 36 holes.

Bruce Murphy of Tennessee won medalist honors at 10-under (67-65—132), one stroke better than teammate Chase Kyes (66-67—133).

Campbell will return to action Mar. 2-3 with the Sam Ryder Invitational, hosted by Stetson at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Course – Lonnie Poole GC (Par 71, 7119 yards)
The Lonnie Poole Golf Course, which opened in 2009, is an Arnold Palmer Signature tract and features great variety, with low lying areas as well as fairways with rolling hills. Several areas of the course provide views of downtown Raleigh as well as the NC State campus.  The course features three types of character – flat, wetlands, and trees – and includes nine par four holes, five par three layouts and four par five holes.  Campbell has competed at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole GC multiple times, while also participating in the NCAA Raleigh Regional in May 2018.
