DEBARY, Fla. (February 22, 2026) – After nearly four months away from competition, the University of North Alabama women’s golf team will begin the first of six invitationals this spring this Monday and Tuesday at the Babs Steffens Invitational hosted in DeBary, Fla.
Fellow Atlantic Sun Conference member Stetson will host the event at DeBary Country Club near Orlando. This will be UNA’s second time playing in this event, but the first time on this course. In 2022, the Babs Steffens Invitational was hosted at LPGA International in Daytona Beach.
The tournament begins Monday and will span three rounds through Tuesday.

NOTABLES
THE LINEUP: UNA’s spring opener will include redshirt junior Kerigan Klauber, junior Ava Schwartz, sophomores Olivia Whittle and Sirichaya Chanpen and true freshman Kiersten Riggins. Chanpen will pencil in the top spot, followed by Klauber, Whittle, Schwartz and Riggins. For Whittle, this will be her first start since the Jayhawk Invitational on August 24, 2025.
THE FIELD: UNA is one of 16 schools in the field and one of three ASUN schools along with West Georgia and tournament host Stetson. UNA is also one of two school from Alabama along with Troy. The rest of the field includes Appalachian State, UNC Asheville, SIU Carbondale, Georgia State, Southern Utah, Drake, Bryant, Le Moyne College, Palm Beach State, Seminole State College, Keiser and Mount Mercy.
ORDER OF EVENTS: UNA arrived in the Orlando area on Saturday evening and will play a practice round on Sunday. The Lions will tee off at 8:45 a.m. on Monday and will play 36 holes. The final round will be at the same time on Tuesday. Starting holes will be announced prior to Monday.
THE COURSE: DeBary Country Club’s golf course was chosen as a U.S. Open Qualifying site in 1997, 1999 and 2001 and hosted a U.S. Senior Open Qualifying Final in 2003. The course has received a pair of four-star ratings from Golf Digest Magazine with great course conditions, undulating fairways, and greens that roll true and fast. The 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by Lloyd Clifton and opened in 1990.
LAST TIME OUT: Nearly four months ago in October, the Lions played at The Judson hosted by Southern Miss and turned in a sixth-place finish. Chanpen led the way with an 18th place finish at five-over. Not far behind her was Klauber in 23rd, as her first round was a two-under-par 70 that tournament.
BABS STEFFENS REWIND: The last time UNA played in the Stetson-hosted tournament was on March 27-28, 2022. UNA finished 10th in that tournament at 70-over and was led by a top-10 finish from former standout Jahnavi Prakhya in ninth. Campbell won the 2022 tournament at 17-over as a unit.
CURRENT RANKINGS: UNA currently has a No. 196 ranking in the Scoreboard Clipped national ranking, leading Boston U, Western Michigan, Idaho and Western Carolina within the top 200. There are 286 teams ranked in the poll. Jacksonville, Austin Peay, Queens and Bellarmine are all ASUN schools ranked behind the Lions.
