I traveled to Park City, Utah to train with the USA Bobsled Team and find out if a retired NFL lineman has what it takes to push a four-man sled. Spoiler: it’s way harder than it looks.

The team put me through a full combine — 30-meter sprint, vertical jump, broad jump — then taught me how to push on the dry-land training track before suiting up and going down the actual ice track at 80+ mph pulling 5 Gs. Huge thanks to Head Coach Chris Fogt, pilot Frank Del Duca, and the entire USA Bobsled & Skeleton team for letting me tag along and not laughing too hard when I almost fell on my face.

  1. For those wondering what Bobsledding feels like, here are my thoughts after going down the track
    – I thought it would be like a fun roller coaster, but man was I wrong. It started out quiet and smooth, but as we continued to pick up speed the intensity got higher and higher. The turns bounced my shoulders and head like I was back on a football field, the noise of the sled got louder and louder, rattling as if the whole thing was falling apart. Faster and faster we kept gaining speed until we topped out in turn 8 At 84 miles an hour. By then, my 280 pound body was being multiplied by 5 Gs and it felt like 1400 lbs was pushing me into the bottom of the sled, It’s metal rails I was sitting on bruising my hips. At that point, it was so loud I could no longer hear my own screams, which I’m not sure I was even producing because the air had been squeezed out of my body. Just as I wondered how much more of it I could take, I heard the relieving sound of the brakes.

  2. Vacationed at Park city a few summers ago and went to the Olympic Ceter. It was summer, so my daughter-in-law and son rode the bobsled with wheels on it, and with a professional driver. We were required, as you probably know, to wear helmets, and I'm glad i did! i whacked my head on the side of the sled 2-3 times doing 70mph. Had a headache for about 2hrs. after. It gave eme a new perspective on bobsledding!

  3. Love this entire show concept! Go Team USA!! Great way to promote the Olympics and show the passion, hard, dedicated work that goes into training. Love Jason experiencing new sports given his proven athleticism, his sense of adventure, and humor. All combined make an uplifting show🎉! Boy, do Americans need that right now. More, please! Thank you!

  4. Why are we watching him? This is ridiculous he is not a Bobsled expert. This about the regular people I am so tired of seeing him his brother and Wife on everything good Lord let this people have their moment.

  5. I remember taking several runs down the training bobsled track in Steamboat Springs. It was 4 people in a glorified padded refrigerator box. It was so thrilling I spent all the cash I had getting back in line to go again. A couple of runs were around 60 mph!

  6. Brought to you by Home Depot…one of ICE's BFF, and lacking me as a customer among thousands of others. KMA Home Deport.

  7. @JasonKelce Your country gas a Football National Team, but they almost always send College players. D2/D3 . I watched Germany beat US in Poland, World Games 2017

  8. So cool to see a pro athlete perspective on other sports. Everyone is familiar with watching you on the field but seeing you in this different enviornment is really cool.

  9. is that cool or what…lol…..funny seeing Jasons head popped up while the whole team was heads down…I know it was probably planned so Jason could get the best of the experience, but still funny to see…nice job Jason!

  10. 13:08 that guy is wearing a US army WCAP hoodie. i love that. i did a tv/internet install for a female officer in the WCAP program in park city. she was awesome. i believe she medaled in 2008 and was hoping to be close again in 2012, in the 2 woman sled.

  11. Speed in a vehicle is nothing like being coupled to the ground directly. I was clocked at 70+ on downhill racing on skis and like bobsled or maybe even a high-speed go-kart it is far more exciting than in a car.

  12. I'm so impressed with your ability to pick new skills up so quickly Jason. My stomach was churning watching you go down. Kudos to taking Trav with you!😂❤️

  13. Let’s bring one to SIC right down Landis J.K. – I’ll bring my squad from 🚒Station 10 😂

  14. Fantastic video! Shows how Elite Athletes that are ‘coachable’ can move from one sport to another and how a guy who will be getting a Gold Jacket became a humble ‘rookie’ and soaked in all the Coach had to teach

  15. Insane what incredible athletes these elite linemen are. Kelce is a beauty. Great video!
