The Eastern Illinois men’s golf team returns to the links on Monday to begin the Panthers Spring season.   EIU will be playing at the New Orleans Gulf Coast Classic.

 

The 54-hole event will be played at the English Turn Golf & Country Club with 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.  The course will play as a Par 72 covering 7,101 yards.

 

The field includes host New Orleans, Eastern Illinois, Belmont, Tennessee Tech, Murray State, Loyola Chicago, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Augusta College, Bellarmine, St. John’s (NY), Central Arkansas, Southern Indiana and Jackson State.

 

Freshman Luke Watson was the Panthers top golfer in the fall with a season stroke average of 74.2 which included a pair of Top 10 tournament finishes.

 

Ian Hollander was just behind Watson with a season stroke average of 74.5 for the fall with a tie for second at the Chicago State Windy City Classic the top individual finish for a Panther in the fall.
