Is this a 'feature' of this ball, a duff batch, down to me, due to the clubs or a combination?

Away on holiday and Decathlon nearby so picked up some Inesis 500 Soft balls. Clubs were loaned, near new Titleist 695MB irons and some worn but ok condition Callaway wedges.

Noticed from a decent amount of the ball's skin being left on the club face, especially the wedges.

Front 9 I was using the last Callaway Chrome Soft and can't recall seeing this sort of ball damage before I lost in a water hazard. The ball in the photo was probably only hit 10 full shots + a few chips and putts.

The course had small greens, lots of water to carry and strategic trees to clear – I was intentionally hitting the wedges hard to get up and stop the ball quickly.

With my own clubs and Callaway Hex / Chrome soft balls I do get a little skin on the club face but nothing quite as bad as this. That said I would normally play a far more open course.

Any thoughts welcome.
