ROGERS, Arkansas — On this episode of Around the Corner, the crew checked out an indoor golf and entertainment venue in Rogers that’s giving families a place to spend time together year-round, rain or shine.
Tyler and Shania Watkins opened Birdie and Brews with one goal in mind: creating a space where people can make memories with their loved ones.
“We wanted to create a place where people from families, friends, it doesn’t matter if you’re passionate about golf or you’re passionate about sports,” Tyler said. “We just wanted to make a place where everyone could come and enjoy their time, make connections, build memories.”
The idea for the business started with Tyler and his father’s love of golf. Tyler said they wanted a way to play without worrying about weather conditions.
Tiffany, Jo, and Danny explored the venue and were greeted by one of its most popular attractions — Thor, the Watkins’ Shih Tzu and official mascot of Birdie and Brews. The team tested out the golf simulators, tried their hand on the putting green, and wrapped up their visit by sampling drinks from the beer wall.
Birdie and Brews’ golf simulators allow guests to play virtual courses, along with a putting green for casual play.
“We run leagues and tournaments for golfing. We can play full 18 rounds at Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, or any of these famous golf courses,” Tyler said. “But at the same time, your family or your kids can come in. Kids will spend hours just playing zombie dodge ball trying to beat each other’s scores.”
One cool thing about the simulators is that it tracks your performance.
“We take a putter and just send the putt off, it will track that and know exactly where it starts, where it ends, what its line was … It’s giving you immediate feedback,” Tyler said.
Visitors can also explore the second part of the venue’s namesake at the beer wall, which offers a self-serve drink option for adults. Visitors are given a bracelet to serve themselves any beer they want — all you do is tap the bracelet above the tap you want.
“We want people to feel comfortable, to just go grab a beer, just get up from their seat, go and grab a beer like they would at their house, and then go back and enjoy time with their friends,” Tyler said.
Birdie and Brews is located at 2223 South Bellview Rd. in Rogers. It’s open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
