Live from the Killhouse: Europe Wins The Ryder Cup
It was close, but it was never going to be enough as Team Europe, led by Captain Luke Donald, lifted the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. 15-13 is the final with Tommy Fleetwood being the high point scorer. We break down the entire week from start to finish, give out grades (for Players, Captains, and Course), play “Where Do We Go From Here?”, do some superlatives, peek inside the envelope, and so much more.

Thank you to everyone tuning in not just this weekend, but all season long! Your support means the world to us. Smash that thumbs up on the way out!
As an American, thank you guys for having class and integrity in your presentation. So proud to call myself American and distance myself from the low mentality, low class drooling oxen trash that slithered through the ropes this week. Thank you guys again.
I think Xander deserves a little higher grade considering he and his wife just had a baby and he had to miss a lot of the preparation things because of it
1) If you can't play, you should forfeit.
2) If there's a tie, you should pick one person from your team to have a 3-hole or sudden death playoff. Tying means you retain the cup is such bullshit.
3) Paul McGinley was fucking brutal. He was the worst part of the broadcast by far. Every time he talked, I muted my television and then unmuted it 10 seconds later. If he was still talking, I muted it again. This is an American broadcast and we've got the special adviser to Europe telling us about how he made a putt one time. Fuck off. Go to SkySports with that bullshit.
Much I'm sure is made about what Team USA "needs to do" to win and everyone will have his silly (hindsight-aided) opinion, but in the last 9 Ryder Cups the total cumulative points won by each team is as follows:
Team Europe: 126 points
Team USA: 126 points
Europe is 6-3 in these cups, winning the 3 events in this period decided by 2 points or fewer. Given the format, rarity of the event, importance tiny margins have on the end result (putts lipping out), etc. it's tough to prove that good fortune is not somewhat tied to these results. The talent has been close and Europe has been overall tougher in high-leverage situations. Not sure how for America to fix that except, "play better."
Team comradery is another huge canard. Team USA plays a cup each year (and wins basically all the time in the Presidents Cup) while Team Europe only plays every other year. If anything this is to Team USA's benefit. Of course whoever the winning team is loves each other after the fact. If Team USA's players were too individualistic to win team competitions, we'd see this played out against the International Team. But the Presidents Cup has been even more one-sided (in Team USA's favor) than the Ryder Cup has been for Team Europe.
The envelope rule is dumb now and was dumb in 1991. The obvious fix is to include a 13th player on each team as a reserve starting in 2027. Each team has about 20 assistant captains now anyway, including a reserve player (who can only be used once a Ryder Cup participant has withdrawn from the event due to injury) is a very doable and fair solution to this.
I thought Keegan was a good captain on the whole. He was careful and thorough before the event, using strokes gained data to analyze who would be the best players to pick. He obviously wanted to set up the course similar to how it was in 2021 at Whistling when it was an American rout. For the 2025 Ryder Cup, Data Golf has strokes gained totals very even, but with Team USA hitting it better: Team USA: SGT2G: +6.51. SGPUTT: -8.43. I guess fault Keegan for slowing the greens down too much, but again, this is really easy to say in hindsight. In 28 matches (around 450 holes played) Europe played 1.92 strokes better. This is a difference of 0.08 strokes per 18 holes.
Live from the Killhouse? Should be renamed kicking the dead horse. A lot of unpatriotic US team bashing. Sure they didn't play well the first two days but darn if they didn't almost come back. That was the story here, not "oh they played so bad, here's how bad". Very little about how the European team just about choked at the end. TC says the Eurpoean team was humble, where was that humility? How childish was it for the European team to hurl cursing insults back at fans then in the very next sentence cry to security like a bunch of babies "oh this person was mean to me make them leave". If I was security I would have told Lowry and McIlroy, "don't taunt the fans and tell them to F themselves, you are in long island, the more emotion you show the worse its going to get". They came to our Country, won the first few days beating their chests, yelling back at fans and taunting everyone in their sight. And the fans said "not up in here, NOT UP IN HERE".
American here, and I'm so, so happy this team lost. They botched this entire event so badly, in every way. Just pathetic. Keegan was an inspired pick, and I'm not blaming him for the entire fiasco, but the course setup being what it was… what the hell are you thinking???
Coach Saban 2027
Wow the ‘eye test’ pretty hard on Shane, goes 3,3,3,3,3 in final 5 holes from 2 down to halve his match against the best player from 24 on the day and gets little credit for it. Guys, you even gave the stats after not giving him the credit for it?!
God the narrative switch if the US wins in 2027 is going to be absolutely hilarious
Bones for RC captain
Brilliant review – great way to get my 20000 steps in today! – keep it up
Appreciate Tron listening to feedback from Saturday. Thank you Mr TC!
Hatton is the opposite to Colin. I had no doubt he would not choke if it came down to him at the end of the
When all the euro players live in the us and play here year round its not a true "away" ryder cup like it used to be. Not as impressive as some are saying
:p
Looking forward to the Earl of Derby pod and ending up with Richard III getting blamed for killing both his nephews and the US Ryder Cup team
Soly absolutely shined on this pod. He’s so good as a “color” guy when DJ is running point. His breakdown of historic course setups around the 19-minute mark was electric and well-researched.
Man Bryson get such a freaking pass for this fake ra ra thing he does. And it’s not even rara for anyone but himself. And he sucked this week. He literally didn’t improve anyone. He was getting body bagged by Fitz but he’s the second best player??!!!??!!!?!! I simply don’t get it.
The USA team is not run with discipline and the captain is not calling the important shots. You think Justin Rose or Fleetwood or anyone hadn't had sit downs deciding who would hit on what hole? Yet there's Scottie at the final presser saying basically him and his caddy with Henley's came up with the plan for teeing off on which hole. Madness. That shit's worked out months in advance for Europe. Everyone knows what they're doing. The US seem to think they want it. I believe they believe that. But they're like a pain patient telling a doctor their pain as at a 9 when it's actually closer to 6. They THINK they understand what prepared means. They're miles off.
To me Phil is the next captain. I would love to see him light a fire with Brooks Dustin and Patrick Reed on LIV to try and make his team. That’s what we are missing imo. Those guys should be the answer to the Euro stalwarts. Not friggin Harris damn English.
The Americans needed Keegan and Reed playing.. we needed assholes to match Rory, Lowery. Hatton. (And I mean asshole in the best way possible).
I can’t see you, lights out looooosers🤣🏆
What would a korn ferry tour us team have scored?
Can’t tell is the boys realize Keegan “sacked in the morning” chant just means he’ll get fired. Classic football chant – nowhere near the worst of things this week.
Guys Shane Lowry celebrated the 14th point more than any athlete has ever celebrated anything. Europe was never going to put an asterisk on it after the single worst performance in the history of the Ryder cup. They don’t care. They didn’t care.
If we want guys that care and absolutely give a shit about being on the Ryder Cup Team, I really hope Max and Sahith are playing good enough to be on the team. They're also just guys I genuinely want to watch. I could care less about Morikawa or English. I think a team of Michael Block & Neal Shipley would have done better.
Bubba Watson would be a great captain!
Hatton is undefeated in his last 8 Ryder cup matches. Gets a solid A
What is capital S? Situation
Rather have Patrick Reed than Sam Burns!
Patrick Reed and Koepka would have done more than Burns and Morikawa
2:20, they are UK soccer fan chants – reworked obvs.
Great stuff, boys. Randy dealing! And everyone’s predictions were pretty good considering how it played out
They are notEuropeans they make millions in America and live here, Europeans my arse
Why doesn’t Soly just become a European fan?
Lovely collection! I bought my first LV when I was 25 and I only used that bag a few times, haha. Also, love your clutch! I have an Eva clutch in the DE print and love the little chain. But I donâ t want to spend so much money on it now, I have been kisluxs buying the bag I want, it is as good as LV and is one of my favorite things. Durability
Keagan has to play next time
the US used the envelope rule in 91 and people say yeah but it was 8-8 so it only went to 8.5-8.5… ok but that's still half a point each, the reason the US don't like it at Bethpage is because the Europeans only needed 2.5 points to retain, ok, and who's faults that, the US got themselves that far down and so you're basically saying that if the US played better the rule is ok but because they were shite the first two days the rule now isn't fair???
