If you’re over 50 and struggling to hit your fairway woods high enough, this video is going to save you strokes immediately. Most golfers with slower clubhead speed are trying to “help” the ball in the air — and it’s destroying their launch, spin, and carry distance. Today, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf break down why your 3 wood isn’t working, how angle of attack affects launch, and why adding loft (like a 4 wood, 5 wood, or even 7 wood) might actually make you hit it FARTHER.
They get into into the key launch monitor numbers that matter most when fitting fairway woods:
– Angle of attack
– Launch angle
– Spin rate
– Peak height
If you’re hitting your fairway wood 35–50 feet high and wondering why it won’t carry or hold greens — this is why. In this lesson and club-fitting breakdown, we show you how optimizing loft and fixing your swing bottom can completely transform your carry distance and consistency.
Most golfers don’t need a 13° 3 wood. In fact, it may be the hardest club in your bag to hit. If you’re swinging 90–100 mph and not optimizing launch and spin, you’re leaving serious distance on the table.
We’ll also show you a simple tee drill you can do at home to fix your angle of attack and low point control — so you stop hitting it thin and start launching it high and soft.

Would you guys do another video on wedge /chipping shots?
I have 88mph ave driver swing speed. My bag set up is Driver 4 wood 7 wood 26 degree hybrid.
I learned with trying different clubs that not just getting the ball up is important but optimal launch and spin are important too for each individual club.
I use tsi2 4 wood weight at the back…it gets the ball up with good spin, I previously used the tsi2 7 wood but i kept getting a floaty flight that would creep into my hybrid distance
I switched it to the tsr2 7 wood with the weight closer to the face and the ball got up easily but penetrated because it was a better launch angle and spin wasn't too high.
With hybrids they naturally spin lower than woods so I had trouble with lower lofted even as low as 24 degrees. 26 or 27 degrees is perfect to get the ball in the air for me and with the lower spin of the hybrid it has a better flight for me than 9 wood which goes way too high for my liking.
Untapped part of the video market is – swing change/fix vs club change/adjustment. You could do a ton with this, men!
