Rick’s putting the Avoda Curved Face irons to the test on H.I.T Golf. The irons designed to keep your mishits straighter with a subtle “bulge” across the face.

In this review we’ll break down what the curved-face tech is actually doing, how they look and feel, and most importantly whether it makes a real difference on strikes out of the toe and heel. Are these genuinely a game-changer for dispersion… or just clever marketing?

Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.

If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.

We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.

Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.

Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,

H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.

Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

  1. I think you are forgetting the JUMBO grips you have on these clubs. This changes your testing A LOT. I have been using these grips for 9 years now and will NEVER come back to skinny grips. Maybe you were hitting well not because of the curved club face but because of the Jumbo grips.

  2. I remember Irons with curved bulge and roll being advertised in the back of like golf digest magazines and such 25+ years ago.

  3. these look like players CB/MBs, the type of players who use CB/MBs are not the same type of players who need gear effect.

Get these curved faces on players distance iron or game improvement irons

  4. I like the technology idea with these irons, you can hear by the strike that they sound firm and maybe clicky though which obviously is dependant on what people’s preferences are, I do think Avoda are potentially onto something here though… Will keep an eye on them👀

  5. In the wrong price category, you can get the best set of Miura’s for that price or a full set of top of the line clubs. Total miss in my opinion

  6. I don't remember the brand, but in china in a big factory where they made a lot of Callaway, Cobra, Nike irons in the late 90's they also had a super advance development facility with at that time computers, swing analyzers, swing robots they actually had irons with a lot of weight screws and different soule measurements.. and actually also very advanced club faces with multiple thickness and also curved faces. I remember so well that older man from TaylorMade/Nike that took me around, and he said this you will se selling in about 20 years. And because of commercial value they could not release anything so they could present one new thing every second year. Put I remember on brand, a Chinese brand called something like Pacific that was sold only in china that had those curved face and a lot of changing weight screws. The also had a weight sleeve that you could change weight position and stiffness position on the shaft. That was a big talk
