LA QUINTA, Calif. — The No. 15 Texas Tech men’s golf team opened play on Monday at The Prestige with a 7-over 291 and sits 12th in a field packed with 24 teams at PGA WEST’s Greg Norman Course.
Texas Tech was led by even-par 71s from Adam Bresnu and Connor Graham en route to the Red Raiders’ 7-over team score. In a 120-player field, Bresnu and Graham are tied for 22nd after the opening round on the 7,105-yard, par-71 layout.
Price Hill added a 3-over 74, and Ben Gregg rounded out the team scoring with a 4-over 75. Brady McHenry shot a 6-over 77.
Texas Tech enters Tuesday’s second round seven shots behind a trio of teams tied for fourth at even par, and 16 shots behind first-round leader Oregon State, which shot a 9-under 275 to open the tournament.
Less than 10 miles from the main event, Simon Hovdal competed in The Prestige Individual at the Golf Club at Terra Lago in Indio, California. Hovdal shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 18th in the 51-player field.
Round two begins Tuesday for both events, followed by the final round on Wednesday.
