Hi Y’all, Happy Presidents Day. In these times of unrest I pray for the leaders of our great America to keep her safe.

I hope that you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. To me, Valentine’s Day is not just sweetheart’s day; it is a day of being grateful for the love you have, whether it is a friend, family, your fur baby, or your faith.

Lanark celebrated Valentine’s Day with a fun dance at the American Legion. All were welcome, and we were entertained by Sea Breeze Duo, a wonderful duo, Harry and Melanie, who were fun and knew just the music that we wanted to hear. The hall was decorated beautifully. The food truck, WoknRoll, was available for dining pleasure. Thank you to the Legion for pumping up Lanark’s social life.

Before partying, the Lanark Village Golf Club friends made a clean sweep of our little nine-hole golf course with a clean-up of pine cones, by 17 volunteers. This is the only course where you can enjoy a view of the St. George Sound, a great little course to learn to play golf or practice your swing for bigger courses. Play all day, bring a picnic lunch, and enjoy the view for $10 per person. For many years, this little course has provided east Franklin County with a place for the medical helicopter to land. So, if you are asked to join this non-profit organization, please say yes to helping the community have a beautiful entry to Lanark Village, the service of the medical helicopter, frisbee golf, and two new shuffleboards.

They also offer an amazing yard sale every first Saturday of the month to help keep the club operating.

The Lanark Village Association is offering a lecture series at Chillas Hall, with attendance free and open to all. On Tuesday, Feb. 17, starting at 10:30 a.m. ET, a representative of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office presented “Recognizing and Avoiding Scams.” These situations are attacking the public, and even if you are savvy on the computer or your mobile phone, you can still fall victim.

Lanark Village Association’s Bingo on Wednesday evening, starting at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.), at Chillas Hall is becoming the place to be. With 30 or more participants, the jackpot prize is $100.  Congratulations to Vern Rhinehart for winning last week.
