Charlie Woods has made his college choice, and he’s staying in the Sunshine State.

The son of Tiger Woods announced Tuesday his commitment to play collegiately at Florida State. Woods, a junior at Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, will join the top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2027, Miles Russell, in the Seminoles’ recruiting class. Rivals was the first to report Woods’ commitment, and Golfweek confirmed his commitment.

Woods has long been rumored to be interested in Florida State’s program, with coach Trey Jones seen following Woods on multiple occasions during golf tournaments, including at the state championship in November when Woods shot a team-best 68 to help Benjamin capture the state title. In December, Woods was also the only player in the top 10 of the American Junior Golf Association rankings to not be committed.

Currently ranked 21st in the AJGA rankings, Woods chooses the Seminoles over offer from schools all across the country. He’s not following in his dad’s footsteps, who played two years at Stanford, instead carving out his own path at Florida State.

In joining Russell, the Seminoles will have one of the top recruiting classes in the country for the Class of 2027. The duo will be able to sign with Florida State in November.

Woods is likely to command an impressive NIL deal, which shouldn’t be an issue for Florida State to handle after the recent success of Luke Clanton.

At last year’s Hero World Challenge, Tiger spoke about the recruiting process for his son. “It’s fun to be a part of the process with Charlie and go through it and see where the opportunities that he has that he has created for himself by playing better, places that he could play, wants to play and ultimately we’ll decide where he wants to go play,” the elder Woods said.

Tiger’s daughter, Sam, attends Stanford.

At Florida State, Jones has coached players like Clanton, Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger and others. Now, one of the most famous names in golf will look to add his name amongst the Seminole record books.
