Most golfers buy lake golf balls to save money…
but could they actually be costing you shots on the course?
In this video I compare lake golf balls vs new golf balls from some of the biggest brands in golf — including Srixon, Callaway and TaylorMade — by cutting them open to see what’s really going on inside.
Are used golf balls waterlogged?
Do lake balls lose distance or fly offline?
Can poor quality control or internal damage affect your consistency?
After cutting open over 300 golf balls on this channel, I’ve seen things inside lake balls you’d never spot from the outside — including off-centre cores, uneven layers and potential water damage that could impact ball flight, spin and accuracy.
If you’ve ever wondered whether playing second-hand golf balls is actually hurting your game, this one’s for you.

Ever wondered what’s actually inside a lake ball? 👀
I’ve cut open Srixon, Callaway & TaylorMade to find out.
Are you playing lake balls right now — and would this change your mind? ⛳️👇
Golf balls are waterproof shocker 😂 they would not last very long if they were not now would they? The only possible issue with 2nd hand balls is if they are badly scuffed it might affect ball flight but in my opinion if you buy brand new balls you have more money than sense.
Great vid I have been investing in bifferent makes and models lake balls, all be it A grade ones as i look for me 2026 summer ball. On the course they seem ok just a lot cheaper.
