AMANA, Iowa (KCRG) – The Amana Colonies Golf Club sold out its opening day Friday as dozens of golfers took advantage of unseasonably warm February temperatures.

The golf course typically does not open this early in the season, but spring-like conditions prompted the early opening.

Logan Wheeler drove an hour from Muscatine to play at the course Friday.

“The sun is shining, gets us out of the house, that’s all we can ask for,” Wheeler said.

Wheeler said the hour-long drive for early season golf was worth it.

Management said the golf course is nearly sold out for the next couple of days.
