Florida State received a high-profile golf commitment Tuesday.

Charlie Woods, who is the son of the legendary Tiger Woods, announced on Instagram that he is joining the Seminoles.

“Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University—go Noles!” he wrote.

Woods is a member of the class of 2027 and helped lead The Benjamin School to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 1A state championship in two of the last three years.

Andy Villamarzo of On 3 noted Woods and Co. took home the title in his first year in 2023 and did so again when he was a junior this past season in part because of his final round performance of a four-under 68.

While Woods first made headlines because he is the son of one of the all-time greats, he made some history of his own in 2020 when he was the youngest competitor in the PNC Championships at age 11.

In June, he won a three-way playoff at the Eagle Trace Golf Club qualifier to seize the final qualifying spot for the U.S. Junior Amateur.

That performance came after arguably his most notable one when he notched his first American Junior Golf Association victory at the AJGA Team TaylorMade Invitational in May. He did so with a six-under 66 and eight birdies in the final round.

Villamarzo noted Woods earned first-team AJGA Rolex Junior All-American honors and is in the top 10 of his class in the AJGA standings.

While his famous father went to Stanford before becoming a 15-time major champion, the younger Woods will remain in Florida and take the course for the Seminoles.
