Here’s a longer, fuller description that reflects the entire press conference, not just the LIV angle — authoritative, clean, and very YouTube/article-friendly:

Rory McIlroy speaks candidly ahead of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, reflecting on his win at Pebble Beach last season and the confidence it gave him heading into the rest of the year. The defending champion discusses the state of his game, his equipment experiments in the off-season and why he ultimately returned to the blade irons he has trusted for most of his career.

McIlroy also gives detailed insight into course strategy at Pebble Beach, explains why February conditions suit his aggressive style, and reveals how his putting performance proved decisive in last year’s victory. Away from the course, he offers forthright opinions on the wider game, including Scottie Scheffler’s consistency, comparisons to Tiger Woods, and whether The Players Championship should ever be considered a major.

The Northern Irishman also addresses the evolving landscape of men’s professional golf, saying the return of Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka from LIV Golf has “swung the pendulum” back in favour of the PGA Tour. McIlroy also touches on fan behaviour, the Ryder Cup, the NFL and what golf can learn from American football’s marketing model.

A wide-ranging, revealing press conference from one of the game’s most influential voices ahead of a key week on the PGA Tour.

  1. Who cares what he thinks about Liv, He got beaten by 2 nobodys from Liv in Australia by 10 shots and he thinks people are going to watch TGL, i would rather watch womens synchronised swimming than Pros hit balls into a screen. What hypocrisy. Liv isn't real golf but computer golf is😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

  2. Fascinating questions at the end about possible fan backlash from the Ryder cup. Rory be like: let’s just move on from that.

  3. I think the Dell Matchplay was the most difficult to win and should have been a major and Rory has won that, too.
