KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – The Amer Ari Invitational has come and gone and the UT Arlington men’s golf team finished with a strong showing in round three. The Mavericks recorded a 10-under-par 278 on the final day of the tournament, moving them past invitational co-host Hawaii into 19th place.
UTA’s efforts were highlighted by Ajay Morris, who carded an 8-under-par 64. The freshman vaulted up 37 spots on the tournament’s final day into a tie for 70th. Morris’ round was highlighted by a 5-under back nine. The freshman also birdied holes three through six. All told, Morris sank nine birdies on the day with his lone blemish being a bogey on the eighth hole.
Morris was the lone Maverick to finish under par for the tournament, wrapping up with an overall score of a 3-under-par 213.
Two other UTA golfers finished below par in round three as well. Arth Sinha turned in a 2-under-par 70 round that featured 14 pars. Michael Chevalier’s round wasn’t quite as simple.
The junior sat 2-over nearing the end of his round after bogeying three of his penultimate four holes. But Chevalier mirrored himself, making up for his lost ground by instead sinking three birdies in his final four holes to go into the clubhouse with a 1-under-par 71.
