CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs shot rounds of 302 and 312 on Monday to sit tied for 11th after the opening day of the Texas State Invitational at Landa Park Municipal Golf Course in New Braunfels, Texas.
 
Mia Hammerschmid and Sarah Reed lead the way for WT as they are tied for 25th overall with a 150 (+6). The Lady Buffs shot a 302 in the first round, followed by a challenging 312 in the second round. Hammerschmid carded a 74 in the first round and a 76 in the second, while Reed opened with an even-par 72 before slipping to a 78 in the final round.
 
Ryan Purczynski sits tied for 46th with a 155 (+11) with rounds of 75 and 80. Kara Holm and Charlee Thacker are both tied for 65thwith a 160 (+16). Holm and Thacker scored identically in each round, posting 81 in the first and 79 in the second.
 
The host Bobcats sit atop of the leaderboard with a 570 (-6) to hold a four-stroke lead over Tarleton State (574). Louise Depadt of TSU carded rounds of 70 and 64 for a 134 (-10) to hold the individual lead over teammate Lou Deltombe (138, -6).
 
The final round will feature a shotgun start at 8:10 a.m. as the Lady Buffs are paired with Lamar and Loyola-Chicago.
