These look incredible, always played Wilson, I’ve got a fitting at SGGT soon looking to combo all 3
I just the Callaway AI 150 irons a couple weeks ago. There was big jump in price compared to the last model of the CB and MB. I was going to get the old CB but was sold out for along time directly through Wilson. Probably because of the new models. The only fast blade model I have seen is the new cobra 3-D printed blade.
Really considering this but I hate that there's an uncharge for Modus 120 shafts. Titleist and Mizuno are free.
Hi Michael, I had a fitting yesterday, ended up with the xb irons. Traded in my mizuno pro 243 irons. My miss is a thin and the drop off was nowhere near as punishing. More golfers should give them a try.
These look awesome
That XB had some serious performance. Odd how the pain is much lower with the cb. I like Wilson ruins and will give them a shot this year but zxi
Combo set has been good to me.
Played Mizuno Pro last year. I have tested last year's Staff Blade and thought it was even softer than the Mizuno and very forgiving for a blade. I was looking forward to this year's Wilson and they look fantastic. I have hit all three models and oddly, I am on the fence a bit. I don't know if it's the finish or why, but last year's blade felt softer to me. Maybe I need a little more time with the new ones or maybe I was having a bad swing day or maybe a different shaft … I will say the new Mizuno M15 blew my mind immediately. The launch, spin and distance are astonishing and feel for a hollow body is fantastic. Such good equipment from all the manufacturers these days.
How can one tell the blade and XB apart? is there any badging on them or is the difference strictly visual?
I was lucky to have a set of Wilson Staff FG17 irons 1980s fabulous set of irons for low handicap players ,it's fantastic to see Wilson making top quality club again pity there not more golfer using them .
Hi Michael, Love Wilson. Play the same Staff Model blades as you. Bought them after one of your reviews a couple of years ago
Had FG59 previously.
I haven’t played Wilson previously because the chrome was just too much for me. I just hate the glare and prefer the look of satin or brushed steel. But I wanted to, as so many people raved about them, notably you and Jay at AskGolfNut, and in both your testing they were so forgiving and kept up ball speeds well, particularly the MB and CBs. So I think a combo XB 5-6-7/MB 8-9-PW (with a tiny loft tweakage) is in my future. I do wish the XBs were a bit stronger, but it’s right in line with the T-150/P770/PINGi240, so it makes sense.
The stated bounce numbers on all 3 models seem somewhat low, and yet there appears to be a good amount of camber to the sole, which I like. Is that true of your gamers as well, Michael?
Love your reviews, especially the HD camera close up of the topline thickness and club head from the players position . No other reviewer really does this and certainly not to your lighting and definition quality.
Underrated for sure. Love to get CB line. But still love my mizuno mp18 mmc.
Something I've noticed a lot with these irons is that the xb is 2 degrees stronger but sits at the same distance.. interesting. Normally you'd expect a hollowhead to go further than a cavity back even if they had the same lofts but these all seem to go around the same distance.
