The TP5x is TaylorMade’s fastest tour ball. Designed for players who desire lower spin with driver, this ball is all about a penetrating ball flight for maximum distance. The TP5x is a very popular golf ball and so I was interested to see what the 2026 model performed like. Check out our full TaylorMade TP5x golf ball review below…

TaylorMade TP5x 2026 Golf Ball Review: NCG Summary

5 star review

NCG SUMMARY

The TP5x is one of TaylorMade’s best selling premium golf balls. Designed for players who still want to lower driver spin but still keep that high short game spin rates.

Off the face this is a soft, smooth feeling ball. With irons and driver the yardages were strong even when the ball didn’t quite get a centre strike off the face.

PROS

Impressive short game spin

Strong ball flight

Great feel off the face

Low spin with driver

CONS

First Impressions

As you can see I tested the stripe version of the TaylorMade TP5x. This ball does come in a standard all white design as well as a yellow colourway, stripe (as I have) and a Pix version (which Tommy Fleetwood plays). The Stripe design is aimed at creating better focus. The all-new Tour Stripe with 360° ClearPath Alignment™ includes performance dots rather than a solid line. This is great on the greens as it helps create Hyper Focus and provides instant feedback with the roll.

The TP5x wording now has a dual line at either side rather than a solid line like the previous model.

NCG Review

Having just tested the TaylorMade TP5 I was excited to see how the ‘x’ model compared. I tested this ball both out on the course as well as at an indoor studio to gather data using a SkyTrak launch monitor.

Starting with 58°, the TP5x performed very well. As you would expect to see the TP5x was high spinning coming in with an average of 7308RPM. This averaged around 300RPM less than the standard TP5 which is exactly what you’d expect to see. In terms of feel off the club face I really enjoyed hitting this ball.

Moving onto 7 iron, the TP5x again gave lower spin rates than the standard TP5 as expected. Carry distance was good for me in this current colder climate and slightly up on the TP5. The flight was higher than I saw with the TP5 and overall I very much enjoyed how easy this felt to hit.

I was excited to hit driver after how much I’d enjoyed using the ball with the other clubs. Even my miss hits seemed to still fly an impressive distance. My average carry of 220 yards I was very pleased with. The whole data set was incredibly consistent with a strong ball flight. Spin rates were lower than my average but as expected when TP5x aims to provide lower spin rates with driver.

On the greens the TP5x continued to deliver. Having tested the stripe version, lining the ball up seemed so much faster than when I draw a singular line on my ball which was great. Off the putter face it was fairly soft but not so that you had to work for it to roll.

NCG Verdict

Overall, I really did enjoyed using the TP5x.

In terms of feel, for me personally, this has been the nicest ball off the club face that I’ve tested so far this year.

If you’re looking for a softer feeling ball with high spin rates then the TP5 is probably best for you but if you’re looking for a strong flight and lower spin with the driver then the TP5x is the one for you.
