Rick gets his hands on the brand-new PXG Lightning driver and puts it to the test on the course and launch monitor. ⚡️

In this video he looks at ball speed, forgiveness and adjustability, compares it to his current gamer, and answers the big question: is Lightning actually faster, or just clever marketing?

Watch to see the numbers, the on-course performance, and whether this new PXG deserves a spot in your bag.

Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.

If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.

We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.

Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.

Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,

H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.

Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

  1. Yeah cause the regular Joe couldn't afford it your always wingin about other manufacturers price

  2. I have a PXG hybrid and 3 wood. The reason I bought them was getting a quality product for less money than the major brands. If they are now selling at the same price (or close) as the top brands, I will buy the top brands.

  3. hate the head cover. by now they all should be magnetic open and close. I'm still fitting for tm driver. I know ping is good but i had horrible experience with their irons in the past. TM and titleist have won my heart and confidence.

  4. Military Discount, nice fitting locations, low cost fittings and good products…..but hey I guess they should just close, since Rick says they aren't established and people won't buy.

  5. You’re right, few will buy at that price point. I think for looks they are outstanding, possibly the best of all the drivers this year if you like gloss. If you like matte then go TM. The performance is as good as any, but if it was $100 lower than the rest they may get a bit more attention. This is a tough year to choose for drivers there is so many great new models! Truth is, drivers from five years ago performed just as good when you look at the reviews from 2020 to 2022. Every bit is good or better

  6. Hope it sounds better than the Black ops. The black ops sounded terrible. I’ve had Pxg products. They are ok. Don’t anything special

  7. Well their 10k driver is the only one with weight forward, where you can actually knock a some spin off. In fact their weighting system is the best in the business in my view.

  8. well what they figured out is that golf innovation (that creates better performance) does not really exist and low volume, high price is a way to go out of business.

  9. I bought a full bag and as a former military veteran I get a little better pricing and I will be going to get fit for PXG driver this year. I love love love my 0211 irons and hybrids. The PXG has to beat out the Ping G440 Max at least in order for me to purchase but I think it will! We will see! Thanks Rick!

  10. I think PXG nailed it this year. And after signing a couple tour pros, I think they are heading in the right direction. I think Rick is missing the broader picture here

  11. Ben & Rick. Doing a smashing job. Love these and the podcasts. I don’t comment often, but you guys deserve it. Great start to the year👍
