Megalodome Golf recently announced plans to build what it calls the world’s first full-scale indoor nine-hole golf course, marking a bold step in year-round sports infrastructure.
The project will rise in Oswego, Illinois, just outside Chicago, with construction tied to a budget exceeding $50 million. The company says the venue is scheduled to open in the fall of 2027, positioning the Midwest as a test bed for climate-proof golf.
In cold-weather regions like northern Illinois, traditional golf courses typically operate for only three to six months each year. Long winters and unpredictable weather often cut seasons short.
Megalodome Golf is targeting this problem directly by enclosing an entire course under massive domes, allowing play regardless of snow, rain, or extreme cold.
