GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Led by a tournament-winning performance from Carmen Lim, the Washington women’s golf team concluded play Saturday at the Collegiate Invitational at GCC presented by BabyGrande Golf, finishing tied for 10th among 12 teams. After two days of 27-hole play, the Huskies tallied a total score of 903.
Lim finished first overall in the tournament – her first tournament win as a Husky – with a total score of five-under par. Lim navigated a challenging second day with poise, opening with a steady first nine before closing strong, carding two birdies on the back nine and four on the day to secure the individual title.
“I can’t say enough about Carmen’s performance this week,” said head coach Anna Temple. “She was committed to the process and that was huge. She faced a bit of adversity in round three with five bogeys in a row, but she did a great job of recentering and recommitting to the process.”
Wendy Tang followed for Washington, finishing tied for 30th overall with a tournament total score of 226. Athena Ni placed tied for 40th at a score of 229, while Mads Smith ended the event at 237. Claudia Alnajim rounded out the Husky lineup, finishing at 247.

“While our team performance wasn’t where we wanted it to be today, we learned a lot from the experience and are looking forward to working hard before our next event,” Temple added.
The Huskies will return to action next at the Alice & John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic, with the first day of play on February 14 in Palm Desert, Calif.
