GUADALAJARA, Mexico – University of Houston Women’s Golf junior Maelynn Kim fired a bogey-free 67 to lead the Cougars and rise to second during the Final Round of the Collegiate Individual at Guadalajara Country Club presented by Babygrande Golf.
After finishing the final nine holes of her Second Round earlier in the day, Kim quickly moved under par with a birdie on the 340-yard, par-4 second hole on the 6,210-yard, par-72 course.
Following nine straight birdies, the Katy, Texas, native drained four birdies in a five-hole stretch beginning at No. 12 with only a par at No. 14 slowing her streak.
With her performance, Kim finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 3-under 213 and joined Camille Min-Gaultier (TCU), Samantha Olson (Tulsa) and Jaclyn LaHa (Virginia) in that group.
As a team, the Cougars posted their low round of the tournament with a score of 5-under 283 and rose into third with a score of 873.
Kim was one of two Cougars to finish among the tournament’s Top-10 leaders as senior Moa Svedenskiöld tied for sixth at 2-under 214. The Halmstad, Sweden, native completed her Second Round and added an even-par round of 72 to cap her tournament and join Sophia Fullbrook (Florida State) and Grace Kilcrease (Oklahoma State) in that group.
Senior Natalie Saint Germain finished 21st at 222 while sophomore Emilia Väistö tied for 23rd at 224. Competing in her first team-scoring event, freshman Sadie Adams tied for 53rd at 235.
#28 Florida State captured the team title with a score of 868 while #19 Oklahoma State finished second at 871. #38 Virginia (879), BYU (888), #39 NC State (889), Tulsa (890), #41 TCU (895), Chattanooga (898), #43 Colorado (43) and Washington (903) completed the Top-11 leaders.
Washington’s Carmen Lim earned medalist honors with a score of 211.
This weekend’s tournament was the Cougars’ first team competition since finishing seventh at the Landfall Tradition in North Carolina on Oct. 24-26, 2025.

Following the Collegiate Individual at Guadalajara Country Club, the Cougars will play host to their own Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston on Feb. 23-24.
The Cougars welcome a 17-team field, which includes Arkansas, Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Texas, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Texas State, ULM, UNCW and UTSA.
From there, Houston competes at the Lady Luck Invitational at Las Vegas Country Club in Las Vegas on March 2-3. The Cougars continue their western tour when they tee off at the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., on March 20-22.
