GUADALAJARA, Mexico – University of Houston Women’s Golf senior Moa Svedenskiöld fired a 68 in the First Round and was tied for second at 5-under 103 through the first half of the Collegiate Individual at Guadalajara Country Club presented by Babygrande Golf on Friday.
Svedenskiold opened her spring season with three straight birdies on the 6,210-yard, par-72 course and drained four more birdies to finish the First Round with a 68. The Halmstad, Sweden, native sank consecutive birdies at No. 4-5 midway through the first nine of her Second Round.
In a unique collegiate format, schools will play 54 holes over two days with 27 holes Friday and the final 27 holes on Saturday.
As a team, #32 Houston stood in fifth with a score of 7-over 439.
Junior Maelynn Kim was tied for 21st at 110 while senior Natalie Saint Germain was tied for 30th at 113. Sophomore Emilia Vaïstö was tied for 41st at 115 while freshman Sadie Adams was tied for 56th at 119.
Oklahoma State held the first day lead with a score of 433 with Tulsa (438), Virginia (438) and Florida State (438) tied for second. Chattanooga (442), TCU (443), Washington (443), Colorado (448) and UTSA (449) rounded out the Top 10.
Schools continue the Second Round at 8 a.m., Saturday, with the Final Round beginning immediately after.
This weekend’s tournament was the Cougars’ first team competition since finishing seventh at the Landfall Tradition in North Carolina on Oct. 24-26, 2025.

Following the Collegiate Individual at Guadalajara Country Club, the Cougars will play host to their own Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston on Feb. 23-24.
The Cougars welcome a 17-team field, which includes Arkansas, Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Texas, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Texas State, ULM, UNCW and UTSA.
From there, Houston competes at the Lady Luck Invitational at Las Vegas Country Club in Las Vegas on March 2-3. The Cougars continue their western tour when they tee off at the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., on March 20-22.
