I Was Stubborn About This Club… Until a Tour Fitter Proved Me Wrong
I am like all golfers Stubborn about what they should work on…well its fair to say I was proved wrong!

Huge thanks to John at Titliest Woburn for an unbelievable tour fitting. My eyes have been opened and I really did not expect that outcome. This session completely challenged my thinking and I feel extremely confident heading into this season in art of the game where i was once NOT confident

What an education this was…what do you think? What lofts are you using??
I'm not sure about being fit for new wedges off a mat is the right way to go , totally different from grass.
And of course on top of all this . You must make sure you have the right colour umbrella 😂😅
The things you have to go through.
Alex…what a journey you're going on I'm wishing you all the luck….recently you are asked who you should see re short game….many said Dan Grieve who as you know resides at Woburn….though your technique might be good (maybe with a few tweeks) I think Dan will help you with "course IQ" which a lot of coaches dont talk about….they are about technique…..I believe Dan will make the huge difference you're looking for….good luck
FYI the mizuno 243 P-wedge is 44*, the Gap is 48*
Great video, let’s just hope the fitters know as much as John, somehow I doubt it! You can’t beat experience in the end.
so good to watch
Makes total sense to have two different grinds with your lob wedge. I play 58* S Grind in the summer and play 58* K Grind during the winter in the softer conditions. I would’ve got M grind if I played a lot of links golf but I don’t. If you can afford it and want to “optimise” your game, I would always suggest having 2 different grinds either in your SW or LW (or maybe both). Just depends on what wedge you use most or comfortable in around the greens. Another good tip is if you do want to go that route and want to experiment in a budget, get older/second hand wedges in different grinds. If you like it, then get fit for new ones when the time is right. My wedges have lasted considerably longer too. Still playing SM9s and switch to SM6s in the winter.
Great review that. I was never really a massive believer that the grinds and bounce would make that much difference until this week
I had a fitting booked yesterday for a couple of weeks to get fit for the new vokeys but on Wednesday I went somewhere and tried them. Tried lots of grinds and bounces in 50 54 and 58 which is the 3 wedges I have now
It wasn’t with the app just all about his the strike felt and sounded as well as the spin numbers
On Wednesday we decided that these would be best for me
50 12f
54 14f
58 was between 2. 12d and 12k but in the end we decided 12k was best
Went for fitting yestrday and the results were crazy
75% match 50 12f – same as Wednesday
75% match 54 14f
Then in 58 it gave top 3 options but not a massive stand out % so we hit shots with all 3.
Narrowed down to 12k and 12d then hit a few more shots looking at feel and some and we decided the 58k was best so
Ended up with exactly the same lofts grinds and bounces as Wednesday. The fitter yesterday didn’t know I went elsewhere until the end. Pretty safe to say im the right ones. 😊
Hey Alex, I was thinking what someone else said here in the comments, while watching the video. Im no professional but wouldnt hitting off matts be different than hitting off grass? Wonder if the numbers & recommendations would be the same for you?? I also think course & weather conditions on the day plays a big factor in club selection. 😊
Thanks for selling me a titleist wedge fitting. Appreciate that
technology can improve performance "BUT" if you are not consist with the swing it with provide faulty statics: lucky for you, your swing is pretty consistent so that data will help your game. If I tried to do this my groupings would be all over the board and my lucky good shot is not a consistent shot. The data is still very valuable and can help improve but swing consistency needs to be priority. Thank you for continuing to share your journey.

Another awesome fit Alex 👊🏻
Nice video, and yes could tell you were like a kid in a sweetshop, and I'm not saying this isn't something someone of your standard needs to do, but how do you know these will make a difference compared to the wedges you were using? I get that the tools used the data to fit you to what is programmed into it too recommend to you, but would love to see a side by side comparison with the last year's wedges so as a viewer we can see the extra spin you're getting for example (that is unless I missed something here and some of these shots were with them). It's a shame we couldn't see this pitching into a proper green, but the conditions didn't allow so not much you could do about that, it's just how it is.
Must say that the audio is quite bothering. Skipped this video.
So, this is how they manage to sell you not 3, not 4, but 5 specialist wedges 😅
Get a chipper. I’m off 6, still use it all the time. It makes the game easier. Any more thought needed…?
difference is that I know my lofts
